Kostas Charitos is head of the Homicide Section of the Athens Police. Tenacious, he does not lose heart even when faced with the most difficult cases. Kostas is married to Adriana and has a daughter, Caterina, for whom he feels total love. In The commissioner's family background looms over the despotic figure of his policeman father at the time of the Colonels' dictatorship and passive spectator, if not accomplice, of the interrogations and violence inflicted on the regime's opponents.
