The son of a deceased police officer, the talented con artist Bayun, faces a choice: to make a deal with his father's friend, Colonel Rubin, or go to prison. Bayun chooses the deal and becomes a "freelance consultant" in the Samara Department of Special Investigations (OSR), headed by Rubin. Using his unconventional approach as a con artist, Bayun helps his new colleagues solve one case after another.
