In 1965, a drilling accident in the Arihundi Gobi Desert led to the mysterious disappearance of prospector Chu Hanwen. Twenty years later, the Lenghu Oilfield received a mysterious signal from the abyss, reviving a long-forgotten case. Beneath the Gobi Desert lies an unknown life form called Hundi, capable of parasitizing humans, causing mutations, and establishing an underground network sharing consciousness. Chu Nanfei, Liang Yihan, Zhou Fanghua, and others venture into the perilous Gobi abyss, confronting both infected mutants and the ambitious "Natural Science Society" while facing familial trauma and moral dilemmas. Humans attempt to suppress or control this mysterious power, while the self-aware Hundi observes and learns from humanity. When all control measures fail, humans and the aliens set aside their conflict and jointly explore their shared awakening and future.
